August 2026 update: Australia has not published an August 2026 country-specific student visa grant rate for Nepal. The latest official Nepal figure available is 67.1% for applicants outside Australia in October–December 2025. The Australian Government’s June 2026 Administration Paper reports an 80.9% overall Student visa grant rate for 2025–26 to 31 December 2025. These are historical grant rates, not a prediction of any individual application.

For Nepal citizens applying offshore, the quarterly grant rate moved from 85.6% in October–December 2024 to 89.6% in January–March 2025, 93.5% in April–June 2025, 90.5% in July–September 2025, and 67.1% in October–December 2025. The latest quarter therefore shows a sharp fall, but it should not be treated as a permanent rate or a personal approval probability.
Why there is no official August 2026 Nepal rate
Home Affairs publishes detailed student visa statistics after the period has ended. As of August 2026, the latest country-level report covers the six months ending 31 December 2025. Some websites may present a newer-looking percentage without identifying the reporting period. Always check the source date and whether the number refers to Nepal, all countries, offshore applications, onshore applications, or a particular education sector.
Success rates vary by education sector
The June 2026 Administration Paper reports different grant rates by sector for 2025–26 to 31 December 2025. Higher Education was 88.9%, ELICOS was 77.6%, and Vocational Education and Training was 51.8%. Postgraduate Research was 97.0%. These figures combine applicants from all countries and should not be used as Nepal-only rates.
What changed for applicants in 2026?
Ministerial Direction 115 applies to offshore Student visa applications lodged on or after 14 November 2025. It affects processing priority according to an education provider’s progress toward its indicative allocation. Priority changes how quickly an application enters processing; it does not lower the legal requirements for a visa and does not guarantee approval.
