UK Student Visa Funds Increase from 30 November 2026: What to Show
From 30 November 2026, UK Student visa living-cost evidence rises to £1,570 a month in London and £1,203 outside London, for up to nine months.
UK Student visa living-cost requirements will rise on 30 November 2026. Applicants studying in London will need £1,570 per month; those studying outside London will need £1,203 per month. Both amounts are calculated for up to nine months, alongside course fees.
Current and new living-cost amounts
- London: £1,529 per month now; £1,570 per month from 30 November 2026. For nine months, the new amount is £14,130.
- Outside London: £1,171 per month now; £1,203 per month from 30 November 2026. For nine months, the new amount is £10,827.
The Home Office set out the increase in its 3 September 2026 Statement of Changes (HC 584). The relevant Student-rule changes take effect on 30 November, not on the statement’s publication date. Applications made before 30 November are assessed under the rules in force on 29 November.
What else must you show?
The living-cost figure is only part of the financial requirement. You also need enough money for your course fees for one academic year (up to nine months), as shown on your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). If you are eligible to bring family, their financial requirement is separate. Some applicants are exempt from proving funds, such as those who have been in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months; check the official rules for your circumstances.
If you are using money in a bank account, it normally must be held for 28 consecutive days. The end of that 28-day period must be within 31 days of your application date. A loan or official financial sponsorship can have different evidence requirements.
What should students in Nepal do now?
- Check whether your application is likely to be submitted before or from 30 November 2026. Do not assume your course start date decides the rate.
- Calculate the living-cost amount for the location and duration of your course, up to nine months, then add the course fees shown on your CAS.
- Leave enough time for any 28-day funds period and check the latest GOV.UK Student visa money guidance immediately before applying.
